Which Dofus class should you pick? All 19 classes and their roles

5 min read

Dofus 3 has 19 classes, each built around three main roles: dealing damage, protecting, healing, moving units around or hindering enemies. For a first character, a simple and sturdy class such as the Cra, Feca, Sacrier or Eniripsa lets you learn the game without frustration. In the end, though, the best class is the one you enjoy, because you will spend hundreds of hours with it.

Understanding class roles

No class does everything in Dofus. Each one is designed around a few roles, and that combination gives it its identity. Knowing the roles stops you from picking a support class while hoping to solo everything, or the other way round.

Combat is turn-based on a grid, so positioning matters as much as damage. A positioning class that pushes or pulls enemies can win a fight that the hardest hitter would lose.

  • Damage: remove as many hit points as possible, at range or in melee.
  • Tank and protection: soak hits and reduce the damage allies take.
  • Healing: restore your team’s hit points.
  • Positioning: move allies and enemies around the grid.
  • Lock: remove AP or MP, slow down and hinder opponents.
  • Buffs: make allies stronger (damage, AP, MP…).
  • Summoning: bring creatures into the fight to battle alongside you.

The best classes for beginners

For a first character, pick a class whose spells are easy to understand. You can then learn the basics (range, line of sight, resistances, positioning) without also having to master a complex mechanic.

Four classes come up again and again in beginner advice. The Cra and the Eniripsa fight at range: they stay away from hits and have time to think. The Feca and the Sacrier are very tough without giving up damage, which forgives positioning mistakes.

  • Cra: ranged shooter, easy to learn, strong solo.
  • Eniripsa: healer in high demand for groups and guilds.
  • Feca: sturdy protector, perfect for learning without dying every fight.
  • Sacrier: melee fighter who gets stronger as it takes damage.

Tip : Very technical classes, like the luck-based Ecaflip or the Xelor who bends time and positions, are great fun once you know the game. Keep them for a second character.

Solo or group play: what changes

If you play alone on a single account, look for a self-sufficient class: it needs to hit, hold out and heal itself a little. Tanks that keep decent damage, or classes with some healing, do well. A companion can also cover what you lack (see our companions guide).

If you play with a guild or friends, support roles really shine. A good healer or positioner finds a dungeon group easily, while a team of five damage dealers gets overwhelmed fast.

Tier lists: useful, not decisive

Class rankings appear after every update. They reflect current balance and change often: a top class today may be adjusted in the next patch, and vice versa.

Use them to avoid a class that is genuinely struggling when you start, not to override your own taste. An average class you enjoy will take you further than a strong one you drop after a week.

Watch out : Be wary of blunt claims like “this class is unplayable”. Gear, element and stat allocation change how a class feels enormously.

Getting started with your class

Once you have chosen, stay consistent: one main element, characteristic points in that element and gear that supports it. Our characteristics guide explains how to allocate your points without spreading them too thin.

  1. 1Read every spell description, including the ones you will unlock later.
  2. 2Pick a main element and stick to it during the early levels.
  3. 3Follow the starting quests in Incarnam: they teach the basics and gear you up.
  4. 4Try your class in a group as soon as possible to see its real role.
  5. 5Join a guild for advice and dungeon partners.

Changing class if you picked wrong

Do not worry if the class is not for you. At the very start of the game, an NPC in Incarnam, standing in front of the tavern, offers a free class change as long as your character is below level 20: use it during your first levels if you are unsure.

Later on, changing class requires a class change potion. Some server types restrict or block this option, so check your server’s rules before relying on it.

If you would rather keep your character and level a second class quickly, powerleveling or a dungeon run can save a lot of time.

Frequently asked questions

How many classes are there in Dofus 3?

Dofus 3 has 19 playable classes: Feca, Osamodas, Enutrof, Sram, Xelor, Ecaflip, Eniripsa, Iop, Cra, Sadida, Sacrier, Pandawa, Rogue, Masqueraider, Foggernaut, Eliotrope, Huppermage, Ouginak and Forgelance.

What is the best Dofus class for beginners?

The Cra, Feca, Sacrier and Eniripsa are often recommended because their spells are easy to understand. Still, the best class is the one you enjoy playing.

What is the best solo class in Dofus?

A self-sufficient class that deals solid damage while being tough or able to heal a bit. Tanks that keep their damage are a good choice, and a companion can bring the healing or damage you lack.

Can you change class in Dofus?

Yes. A free change is offered in Incarnam at the start of the game, and a class change potion lets you do it later. Some servers restrict this option.

Which Dofus class is the best healer?

The Eniripsa is the healing class above all. The Osamodas, Sadida, Foggernaut, Eliotrope and Ecaflip also list healing among their roles.
